This very wine, from the same 2019 vintage won a Top 50 Wines in the World medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards, earning itself 97 points in the process. It’s always a treat to taste a wine from Vosne, but the judges look at such wines against their peers, so they have to be good to make progress … and very good indeed to reach Best In Show. This deep, youthful Premier Cru Malconsorts thrilled every judge who tried it. Not only does it encapsulate the appeal of its village with its velvet-textured opulence and ample raspberry and black-cherry fruits, but its fleet-footed vivacity and deft yet firm structure underlines what a great vintage 2019 is. The wine is delicious now, but the potential of this vineyard which sits alongside La Tache is such that those with a chance to cellar a few bottles for their later years won’t regret it.
A powerfully rich wine from vineyards owned by the Bichot family, this dense wine is packed with impressive tannins that are integrating and filling out. It will age well, so wait to drink until 2024
Tasting Note:
The nose of this Vosne-Romanée features tobacco, tea and mild notes of spice. The palate is velvety with silky tannins, lovely fullness and remarkable balance. The finish is long and aromatic.
