Clonakilla was the name of the family's farm in Co Clare Ireland. The cool climate of the area gives gentle spices & red berry flavours. This Northern Rhone lookalike is a wonderfully fragrant wine with superb depth and balance.
Tim Kirk has quickly become Australia's Shiraz-Superstar. With cool-climate vineyards that are managed perfectly and with expert guidance, Clonakilla is a must have for all serious wine lovers. Tim's Hilltops Shiraz has luscious dark Shiraz fruit, with blackberry, roasted meat and gentle spice in the background. The tannins are ripe, the fruit juicy, the finish long and savoury. Superb.
Tasting Note:
The 2021 marks a return to the dark fruit flavours that are the Hilltops’ signature, including cherries and blackberries. It has fine grained tannins and a racy acidity. A delight to drink now but 5 to 10 years of lying down will do it no harm.
