Description:
The Pian delle Vigne estate is located 3.5 miles (6 kilometres) south of Montalcino and takes its name from a typical 19th century railroad located on the property. The estate consists of some 460 total acres (184 hectares), approximately 165 of which are planted to vines. The vineyards have a predominantly south-eastern exposure and their altitude varies from 430 to 660 feet (130-200 meters) above sea level. The calcareous clay soil is rich in small stones.
Tasting Note:
Aromas of ripe red fruit, floral as well, along with spicy and balsamic notes, ample and creamy in the initial phase, with ripe tannins which are supple and lively. The length and persistence are underlined by a freshness and savour which, in their turn, add further drinking pleasure.
