A bit of a long- forgotten classic. Wynns Coonawarra Estate Chardonnay demonstrates that Coonawarra is ideal for both fine whites as well as the finest of red wines. First produced in 1981, Wynns Estate Chardonnay benefits from a long ripening season that slowly builds up the intensity of flavours in the grape to reveal superb varietal characters and beautiful fruit. Consistently up amongst Australia’s best priced Chardonnay’s because it is always overlooked for the Winery’s famed Cabernet Sauvignon releases.
Sue Hodder is the Chief Winemaker, has been for two decades, and no-one understands the nuances of the region’s famous terra rossa soils better.
Tasting Note:
Elegant pear and nectarine fruit flavours are supported by a creamy cashew nut texture Natural cool climate acidity draws out the palate for a clean and flinty lingering finish with light spice and preserved lemon
Food Matches: Basil pesto, prawn bisque, cheese fondue, stuffed chicken breast.
